Primary Teeth Treatment

The primary teeth begin to erupt when the child is 6 to 8 months old. At the age of 3, 20 teeth in total (10 on the lower jaw and 10 on the upper jaw) will have erupted. Primary teeth stay inside the mouth approximately until the age of 12 and they play a crucial role for both the child’s oral health and general health. As of the age of six, the child enters the period of permanent dentition. At six years old, the 1stmolars, at 7-8 years old the incisors, at 9-11 years old the premolars and canines and at 12 years old the 2ndmolars erupt. In case a primary tooth needs to be extracted for various reasons, fixed/mobile space maintainers should be used to avoid losing the gap as a result of the adjacent teeth shifting towards it.
