Gum Diseases

Gum Recession
Healthy gums are of light pink color and they do not bleed. Gums wrap the teeth and surrounding tissues in a certain rate and certain thickness. When gingival health begins to deteriorate for various reasons, the problem encountered in the first place is the bleeding of gums. If it is not treated and the problem keeps growing, first a simple recession takes place and it is followed by severe recessions. Gum recession brings along resorption and recession of the jaw bone over time which surrounds teeth and ensures their durability.  Untreated cases cause the teeth getting loose and falling out. In treatment of severe dental diseases where the gums are receded, teeth are loose and the space between teeth is wide, the aim is to eliminate the gingivitis completely, treat the infected bone tissue and maintain the remaining bone and teeth inside the mouth for as long as possible.

Osteoporosis

Very fast osteoporosis is observed in the bone in the area of tooth extraction within the first 2 months. If this area is not treated and the proper dental implant is not placed in the area, osteoporosis may continue as long as the individual lives.  Among other reasons of jaw bone loss are problems like infection, tumor and cysts on the teeth roots. In such cases, usually the bone loss occurs around the problematic tooth which is defined as partial bone loss. Gum diseases also lead to osteoporosis on the bone surround the teeth. Psychological problems such as the habit of teeth clenching, conscious or unconscious constant teeth grinding may lead to jaw bone loss in case they occur repeatedly.  The jaw bone damaged after a trauma or impact may suffer from osteoporosis if not treated properly without losing time. First of all, if there are any gingival disorders or infections, these should be treated and eliminated. If there are any missing teeth, improper fillings or cavities, these should be checked and necessary corrections should be made. Dental implants should be preferred for missing teeth. Dental implants eliminate jaw bone loss to a great extent. Another treatment method called bone graft is applied to increase the bone volume where dental implants cannot be applied.

Gingival Aesthetics

An aesthetic smile cannot be achieved only thorough white and well-aligned teeth in individuals; healthy and aesthetic gums compatible with these teeth are also required. Aesthetic procedures applied on gums are called the pink aesthetics. Before aesthetical interventions to be carried out on the gums, it must be made sure that the gums are healthy. Health gums must be pink colored, with a slightly lumpy surface and they should not bleed. Gums that are swollen, red and bleeding before the treatment must be treated. In addition, procedures such as dental scaling and gum curettage should also be carried out. There is a standard place and shape where the gum level of each tooth should be. When this standard is broken, the oral aesthetics can be disrupted. Extremely visible gums while smiling or talking may undermine the aesthetic appearance. These problems can be solved using new technology and usually in a single session, with no bleeding or stitches.

Gum Laser Treatments

It is undiscussable that gingival height adjustments made with laser in ensuring gingival aesthetics render much better results. It constitutes a great convenience to be able to proceed with other procedures without having to wait for bleeding to stop and the tissue to heal after cutting and shaping the gum using laser. After a deep gingival cleaning made with laser, the periodontal pockets heal very quickly.
